First Observations in Egypt

Tax evasion?

Many tourists wonder why roofs in Egypt are not ready (or even where they are partially missing). Explanation: As long as a house has no finished roof, the building is not considered complete and therefore no property tax is payable.

Si vis pacem, para bellum...

I did not like the constant and visible presence of armed soldiers - although in Europe, the sight of young, barreled machine gun guys in the sandbags guarded the locals is happy with this sight, it is their security and they also like their soldiers. So let us do so, they will look after us.

Skin cancer?

Many Egyptian men had dark brown patches on their heads, including the waiters at the hotel. Our companion was shocked that this was really skin cancer. This is because they prick their heads to the ground while praying. The bigger the patch, the more proud they are of it. That's why we saw so many women in black dresses. They mourn for two years, until then they are in a black veil.

Drive

The Egyptians are savages when sitting in front of the car's steering wheel, and are generally good-hearted, inquisitive, helpful spirits. They are extremely family-oriented and love children. Small children of tourist families are warmly welcomed everywhere.
